Short Description
Vitamin A, which is essential for many metabolic processes, is considered essential for our organism to survive. And our skin can also benefit from its valuable properties because it simply reverses our natural ageing process. Applied externally, retinol is the strongest form of vitamin A and systematically boosts your cell regeneration while at the same time inhibiting the enzyme responsible for collagen breakdown. As a result, our Retinol cream takes perfect care of wrinkles, pigmentation spots and provides more skin elasticity and firmness. It also noticeably regulates sebum production in impure skin or acne prone skin. This means less clogged pores, inflammation and pimples. And your skin texture becomes noticeably finer.
The different forms of retinol
In our cream we use retinyl palmitate, also known as retinol ester. This is a preliminary stage of the actual retinol. Not until it arrives in our skin cells, it is converted into active retinol by precisely fitting enzymes.. This is particularly gentle on the skin and is considered to be better tolerated. In our retinol cream we use the equivalent of 0.13% retinol.

Give yourself and your skin some patience when you let retinol touch your skin for the first time. Give your skin time to properly process the regeneration booster first. After about 4 to 12 weeks you can expect visible results. Most of the time, your skin feels great even before that.
After cleansing in the evening, spread our Junglück Retinol Cream thinly on your face and let it be absorbed well. Retinol is basically suitable for all skin types.
Caution is advised if you have extremely sensitive skin or previous illnesses such as couperose. Then we recommend that you consult your dermatologist. During pregnancy and while breastfeeding, you should avoid retinol cosmetics completely.
It is very important when using Retinol to use an additional UV protection without any restrictions. Because the accelerated renewal of your cells makes the upper skin layer correspondingly young and your skin much more light-sensitive. So make sure you have a sufficient light protection factor of at least 30, if not even 50. It is best to apply our Retinol Cream in the evening so that your skin can regenerate optimally overnight.

FAQs
Our Retinol Moisturising Cream has a retinol content of 0.13% and our Retinol Intensive Serum has a retinol content of 0.27%. These percentages seem low at first, but there is a reason for this. On average, 1-1.5 mg of retinol (vitamin A) is already absorbed through food per day, but this is not necessarily beneficial for skin care. Only an external supply achieves the desired skin care effect. However, a maximum of 2-3 mg should be achieved by external supply (including the amount taken in with the diet). Otherwise, side effects due to overdose may occur (headaches, nausea, flaky skin and in the worst cases even liver disease).
However, the retinol concentration in cosmetic products is neither regulated by the EU nor by the German Cosmetics Regulation. According to the Federal Institute for Risk Assessment, however, the additional intake of retinol by serums and creams should be strictly limited. In the case of products for the whole body such as body lotions, the active ingredient should even be avoided completely. However, up to a concentration of 0.3% a product is completely harmless and can be used up to 2 times a day for the face. Our Retinol Serum contains 0.27% so that it can be combined with the Retinol Cream in a common care routine if required.
It is very important to us that our products work very well, but at the same time are very skin-friendly and irritations are avoided as far as possible. That is why we use gentle Retinyl Palmitate in our retinol products. Its effectiveness has been proven by studies and, unlike other forms of retinol that are frequently used, it causes less skin irritation, redness or itching. It is often claimed that this form of retinol is too weak, but this is not true and has also been disproved by studies. Retinyl Palmitate can effectively fight the signs of skin ageing and stimulate collagen production.
We recommend using the product in the evening, as retinol takes several hours to be absorbed and the product can therefore best develop its effects overnight. Simply apply a small amount to the desired, previously cleansed and dried skin areas.
Please do not use retinol products during pregnancy. This is just a precaution, as oral intake of large amounts of vitamin A is associated with possible birth defects. It has not yet been proven that skin care products can have this effect. In general, though, we think that a bit of caution might be helpful.
In Junglück you will find retinol once in the form of a serum and once as a moisturising cream. Which one you finally choose depends on your preferences. Both products contain the effective and skin-compatible Retinyl Palmitate. Our serum contains a slightly higher percentage, but is still mild. After the serum you can, for example, use another skin care cream, such as one from our Hyaluron series. If you want to keep your skin care routine as short as possible, you can choose the cream and have two care steps in one.
In most cases, the skin is not used to the external supply of new nutrients and needs about 1-2 weeks to be able to process them effectively. The skin can therefore react somewhat irritated to the retinol (vitamin A) it contains.
If the irritation (depending on intensity) does not disappear after 2 weeks, we recommend discontinuing the application and contacting us or a dermatologist directly.
